The Schweppes Stakes – History & Betting

The Schweppes Stakes first took to the racetrack in 1976 as a Principal race over 1000 metres and was won by Scamanda. Just four years later it elevated to Group Two status, and increased to 1200 metres as recently as 2007. Over the years the race has been known as the AJ Moir Stakes and the Schweppervescence Stakes, but is now known as the Schweppes Stakes.
